- Q. I'm using SAT PORP to cull Usenet newsgroups and was wondering if
- SAT handles messages with multiple newsgroups like:
-
- Newsgroups: alt.test,alt.binary,alt.sax
-
- A. Yes, SAT scans all the newsgroups for a message, looking for any
- match in the newsgroups you want to retain.
-
-
- Q. I'm watching SAT PORP work on all the Usenet BAG files and I want to
- stop it. What do I do?
-
- A. Press Escape once. SAT will, at a good breaking point, ask you if you
- want to terminate the process. You answer "Y" or "N". If you answer
- Yes, SAT will attempt to move the unprocessed BAG files to the parent
- directory of the PORPWORK.DIR that SAT created (basically back to
- where the .ZIP files are) and delete the PORPWORK.DIR. The .ZIP file
- will -not- be deleted. Decide which you would rather keep, the .ZIP
- file that was being processed, or the .BAG files that are partially
- completed and delete accordingly.
-
-
- Q. What the heck does PORP mean anyways?
-
- A. It's a joke. At least it makes sense around these parts...
-
-
- Q. I don't have or use this NCOPY.EXE, what do I put there?
-
- A. You can put just COPY, and let DOS do the copy, or, in version 1.13+,
- put INTERNAL, and let SAT do the copy internally. This option was
- put in place purely for those networks (NOVELL for example) that have
- a network compatible copy that accomplishes it's work by instructing the
- server to do the copy without having the file actually travel up the
- network wire to the workstation and back down. In a future version of
- SAT it is hoped to make the NOVELL copy internal using proper NOVELL
- API calls.
-
- Q. I don't use all those MOVE= statements in the configuration files, so
- can I comment them out?
-
- A. Yes. You can delete the unused ones entirely, or comment them out by
- putting a ";" semi-colon in column one. You might comment them out
- instead of deleting them simply to keep them as reference.
-
- Q. Why would I ever use the DELETE option on the MOVE= configuration line
- instead of using NUL\ in the ACONFIG.SKY that PTCCMAIN uses?
-
- A. Two reasons. First, you may want to process different types of files
- in the same directory differently; FIDO mail bundles for instance
- are mixed in with FILEBONE files and CDN/FamilyNet files. Secondly,
- SAT will still mark files as "received" versus UPLD.LST if you let SAT
- delete them. You can then have the file produced by SAT FREQ be just
- those files you want to actually freq.
